You’re Invited!
Hosting is in our blood and we would love to host you!
Whether it’s a casual happy hour or a fundraiser for a favorite charity, we have an upcoming event (see below) that we would love for you to attend. We also have unplanned happy hours. If you happen to be a neighbor and see that the Yellow Snail sign is on, you’re welcome to pop on in!
You don’t need to know us to join – if you would like to join an event – please do! If you have been here before, we’d love for you to bring a friend.
You all know that when you drink at the Yellow Snail, you’re drinking for charity. But many of you don’t realize how much impact you’ve had!
The Yellow Snail, since Jan 2020, has raised over $30k for charity.
This does not include Joy & Andrew’s giving – that’s just the money that was raised by and thru the Yellow Snail by patrons of the bar. Let’s keep up the good work! If you have a cause you are passionate about, let us know! We’d be interested in putting together a fundraise for YOU!

Upcoming Events
Speakeasy Cocktail Party!
August 12th 7:30 PM
We’ll be doing a “No Kids” cocktail party to celebrate the kids going back to school!
(See what we did there…)
Starting post dinner, we’re going to have desserts and fancy coctails. We’ll be mixing up a bunch of cool drinks and have just a little bit of wine and beer on hand.
Cocktail Attire Requested (Because a fancy party deserves fancy clothes!)
If you want to attend but need child care, let us know – I think we’ll attempt to coordinate a couple sleepovers to split babysitter costs.
Meaningful Conversations
Our other resolution for this year it to host more, smaller, happy hours and dinners. We’ve had so much fun hosting the big parties (and we’ll do some of those this year, for SURE!) but the downfall is that we don’t get to engage in a meaningful way with everyone.

If you were raised to never show up empty-handed, we get you. But please know that, with the exception of Potlucks, we really don’t need, and often would prefer, that you not bring anything – unless you have a specific food or drink restriction.
If you STILL can’t show up empty handed we always have our charity cup out – feel free to bring cash and we’ll make sure it ends up with a charity. Cash IS King, after all.

What to Expect:
It can be unnerving to show up at a new place with new people. To help with this we try to be consistent with our event types so you know what you are getting into if you decide to join us. You’ll see several event types listed above – here is what to expect at each:
Happy Hour
A “Happy Hour” is casual event, you’ll see flip flops to business casual. Usually early afternoon and just to have a quick drink or two with friends. We typically will have snacks (nuts, chips & salsa) and that’s about it. The quickest and easiest way to get introduced to the Yellow Snail!
Potluck Dinner
A casual event where we have everyone bring something. Expect the collection of food to be enough to have a light dinner. If you plan to attend, feel free to let us know what you can bring! A fun and family-friendly event, kids will usually be around playing as well.
Party
Our parities will usually be themed and will include a full menu and are often to celebrate something. Think: Holiday Party with Christmas-themed food/drinks, or “Spring Kick-off” with a BBQ and Beer menu. Usually letting us know if you can make it is very helpful since we’re buying food in advance – but don’t worry – Andrew ALWAYS buys too much so we can always accommodate a spur-of-the-moment decision to attend!
Event
Our most “formal” events. Usually these are charity events we host to support various causes. Expect to dress business casual or cocktail attire and expect for us to be requesting donations in the $150 to $300 range to attend per couple. Will include full meals (and then some) and higher-end wine and whiskey food pairings. We promise, whatever we ask for in donation, you WILL get your money’s worth. RSVPs are strongly encouraged. Capacity may be limited for some events – but this will be listed on the calendar if RSVPs are required.
Our inspiration:
As a young girl, Joy loved to help her parents host the Annual Staff and Board Dinner at their home in CA. As a high school student, she began hosting an Annual Holiday Party for her friends that ran for 12 years, until she and her now husband Andrew moved in together. They began hosting events together and have enjoyed creating fun gatherings to share with others.
We’ve been hosting at The Yellow Snail since 2018, when our family moved to McKinney. After learning about Neighbor’s Table in April 2021, we were inspired to further our hosting & gatherings by being even more intentional about connecting with new people.
Thank you Sarah Harmeyer for your inspiring story and all you’ve done with Neighbor’s Table. Learn more about Sarah & her mission at http://www.neighborstable.com/
